Paintings by Tatiana McKinney

Holy Spirit Orthodox Churches’ previous iconostasis paintings were gifted to the church in approximately 1991-1992 by former parishioner, Tatiana McKinney, then resident of Venice, Florida. Her mixed media creation consisted of paintings on ironed linen, with burnt edges, painted onto plywood using gold leaf background.

The Parish Council has decided that the six larger pieces and smaller paintings, in consideration of the proper respect and dignity to Tatiana McKinney and Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, will be offered to the general public for viewing and possible purchase.

BAKE-LESS BAKE-SALE

Dear Friends,

We realize that the month of August is a difficult month to plan a project at our church due to the summer vacation. This being the situation, the special fund-raising project to support our budget will be a "Bake-less Bake-sale". This is how this wonderful project works:

1. Just think about how much it would cost you to make your most prized baked article for the church: ingredients, time, labor.

2. Then, just imagine how much you would like to purchase it at a bake-sale.

3. Add the two together and just simply send in the check or simply bring it in to the church during this month.

Your gift from this project will go directly to the general funds of the church. We hope that you will support us.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Rachel Porcelli-Spanos, Chairperson

The Restricted Capital Expenditures Fund

This fund was established by the Church Council to provide for repairs and improvements to our church. We have an urgent need to replace our air conditioning system (2-air handlers). These units are worn out and have far exceeded their normal service cycle. The unit above the kitchen has corroded and rusted through and is leaking, and the motor in the altar unit is worn out causing noise and vibration that has caused additional problems. The proper installation of two air handlers and the necessary electrical work will cost approximately $6,000.00. Please, please consider a gift to this fund. The air conditioning issues were unforeseen and will be an additional amount against our 2008 church budget. Please do not wait for a special appeal by mail. Venice Florida’s only Orthodox community needs your support to resolve this crucial need.
